20.

We're each of us
a bird on its tree
watching the grasses
give into the breeze,
catching our allowance
of gold on the wing,
grasping that branch
but as sure as a leaf,
calling out for the one
or ones

who'll sing
the same songs
as we

I love birds so much! :-)
Your poem has a playfulness in it that perfectly catches the heart of a bird.
So are we all looking for birds of the same feather as ours? :-)

I am a stranger bird than that, I love to be alone on my branch but will accept a community of folks if I stumble into them, or is it fly into their way of being.

Yeah, the search for the same songs sometimes takes a very long time.

Geraldine, thank you! I'm eagerly courting spring now. :)

Vesper, I think we are, though we're better off inviting some variety from time to time. :)

I love birds, too. More than ever this winter.

Mark, I like to be alone on my little branch too. But to hear the echo of other birds sharing my solitude has a special appeal, I suppose.

And you always invite community...whether you like it or not!

Charles, it sure does.

"If I had a million dollars or ten
I'd give to ya, world, and then
You'd go away and let me spend
My life in shoo-shoo-shoo, shoo-shoo-shoo
Shoo-shoo, shoo-shoo, shoo-shoo Sugar Town"

~ Sarah the Sugar Town girl :)

I'd always welcome a partner for karaoke.
