you felt
after the magic act?
What if the magician
reached so deep
inside his magic hat
that Abracadabra
he pulled himself in?
Is death any less
mysterious
or galling?
I felt bad for the bunny,
even as a kid.
Offered up as an answer
it can't comprehend
Shocked every night
by the light
and applause
What terror there is
in innocence.
