Ten years ago,
I slipped inside
a backyard rocket
and launched myself
to the moon
Strange thing is—
I live here now.
Not quite as bouncy
as I was back then
Not nearly as beholden
to the eyes of men
And yet—
You should see the Earth
from my perspective
Blue and beautiful
if full of Martians
and thick with treasure
I long to explore

10 years. I do miss the old days of blogging sometimes. That was an eternity ago.
I miss the writing contests at The Clarity of Night too. http://clarityofnight.blogspot.com/
I bet that's where I "met" you first.
Yep, it sure was. I still remember your backwards motorcycle piece, Paul. That was a lot of fun. :)
That comment means a lot to me, Sarah!
I'm glad! I miss the supportive blogging community that once was.
I've started grabbing my stories from clarity of night today and posting them to my personal site paulliadis.com/blog just so they aren't lost.
I'm glad Jason kept them up there. Those were so much fun to read!
Good lord have I missed this many posts?
*sigh* I claim old as an excuse.
10 years is a long time in the world of written expression lest you be King or Tolstoy or some other literary ancient. 10 years--the question still arises--why do you write, why bother, why not bake TWM a pie and some cookies instead?
The answer is always the same 1) he's too fat and a diabetic & 2) because it is our way of life, we drift as tides that ebb and flow but still the tides do come in and with it the moon and her vision of us stuck rooted in dirt and air.
I'll bake you some sugar-free cookies, Mark, and some real ones, and you can decide which you want to share with your grandson.
You deserve the real ones for answer #2 there. <3
<3 back at ya kiddo!
