La Vie En Rose

Give your heart and soul to me
And life will always be
La vie en rose

--Edith Piaf

Do you remember Paris afternoons?

When there was the impression of contact
as we lapped at a lazy sorbet,
and I pointed to the sky, saying,
That cloud looks like a Rodin
as dreamed by Monet.

You with your chocolate,
me my strawberry.
So when lips brushed lips,
we tasted of Valentine’s Day.

On a Paris afternoon.

You are the Queen of the best ending lines ever! This was great!

And seriously, I would be your beta reader in a heartbeat and would love for you to be my beta. But only if there was a fair trade going between us you know!

Oh Sarah, you've done it again! That was soooooooooooooooooooo beautifully romantic. I just loved it! I loved the line about the Rodin cloud and Monet.

Mmmmm. Very sweet.

(I meant the story. Yeah, the story. Not the strawberry/chocolate thing.) ;)

The movie, La Vie En Rose, was difficult to watch at times, Chris. But the music was great. Piaf is a national treasure for the French.

And I loved your pic! :)

Thanks, Ello. I'm glad you liked it!

And I e-mailed you about the beta reading. :)

Sheri, when in Paris, the mind sees art and history everywhere...heck, they even offer tours of their sewer system. ;) Thank you, my friend!

Sweet, but melancholy, too, Jason. At least that was my intention. Coupled with the darkening sky in the photo, I saw this poem as someone looking back to a more idealized, innocent time.

But yes, strawberry+chocolate = divine. :)

That was just the right dose of romance to give me a warm comfortable buzz.

Beautiful! Lovely rhythm and rhyme and perfect word choices.

Made me think of my Paris afternoons...

I'm ignoring that past tense-- don't like the sadness underneath.
;)

Thanks, quill! And I'm happy to see you again. :)

Good, Scott. I wouldn't want you falling down drunk. Romance hangovers are the worst...

;)

Aine, I'm glad I conjured a little piece of Paris for you. :)

And feel free to ignore the past tense and the photograph. I'm feeling more like that today, myself. ;)

I agree Struggling, that was also one of my favorite lines too.

Sameera, the name derives from the song, which translates as "the life in pink." Kind of like looking through rose-colored glasses. But they did make a movie of the same name. Thanks for the kind words!

Thank you, Paul. I always enjoy it when people point out a specific line to me. That was probably my favorite too. :)

That goes for you, too, Sheri! Thanks again. :)
