How many shades of green are you?
How many shades am I?
Every birthday is a balancing
and a reckoning
and a chance to
proclaim:
I will stay as
earnest as the child
pushing her stick
into brackish waters
in order to make
all the waves
that I can
Longing to hear
the leaves of my trees
whistle and tremble
in a rapt applause
as light breaks free
of its chain of clouds
and I teeter
on the wings
of a beautiful
fall
Where does the water stop
and the cloud begin?
Where am I in here?

Some good titles here: "The Leaves of My Trees" and "As Light Breaks Free."

@Fritz:
"Many shades of green" too. I would read that over "50 shades of grey" anyday.
Plus, there's always that chance that Marvel will buy the rights and make it into a standalone Hulk movie.
I think Sarah should definitely go ahead and write it.
Oh, I'm 29 shades of Green. You are perpetually stuck at 34, I guess.
You are perpetually stuck at 34, I guess.
My friend Aneeeket is generous.
Nothing wrong with that.
Just sayin'.
Oh, that 34 bit was meant for Sarah.
Her bio had forever read, "I'm a 34 year old writer, mother,..."
She seems to have dropped it now. But she does seem to younger... or that pic on twitter was heavily photoshopped.
Charles, I appreciate your stopping by and your kind words.
Steve, smanks. I mean--swait. Did you just call me old?
Aniket, that's more like it. I will let you drink sangria with me. As long as you card me first.
Then we shall all play ping-pong. And Parrish will be 56 shades of envy.
Only the body grows old until you release the soul to grows old as fast as it will. Then as the soul ages youth is recaptured.
Quick pick a fresh green leaf off a tree, it will not mind giving its life for you Sarah. Hold it up to the sun and look at every vein and space within it---that is how many shades of green I am.
Infinite, Mark.
