Valentine's Mix

Ella put them in a sentimental mood.

They got lost with Chet.

Bob invited her to lay across the big brass bed.

By then, they didn't really need Norah to turn them on.

They were already the thing songs are shadows of.

(If music be the food of love, play on...and Happy Valentine's Day!!)

Track listing:

1. In A Sentimental Mood, Ella Fitzgerald
2. Let's Get Lost, Chet Baker
3. Lay Lady Lay, Bob Dylan
4. Turn Me On, Norah Jones

Excellent music Sarah! I've been listening to Chet Baker all week and Ella is one of my favorites.

David, Chet Baker is phenomenal. In my humble opinion, there is no voice as intimate as his. And Ella has an amazing, amazing range. From "S'Wonderful" to "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered," she is able to evoke joy and pain like few others.

I'm glad you're a fan! I was trying to think of some good Valentine's music, since my writing brain has been a bit fried this week. :)

I am so tired from no sleep last night on account of the Valentine's party that I only listened to Dylan since that song always brings me back to my childhood. Sweet melancholy. I hope you had a lovely Valentine's with your familia Sarah.

Finally... your writing brain got fried and You showed some signs of being human!!! I am sorry... but you run so fast that I was beginning to think that a lifetime would be too short to catch up to you!!! lolzzz

But you are still very much in style... with music saying your emotion!

PS: Lena's post for Valentine's day was a stunner!! I was completely hitched! I have to catch up to your letter's series... its next on my list! :P

Walking Man, I'm feeling pretty good. :) Except for all that chocolate I gorged on...

K, this was a last dash effort to put up a Valentine's post. I just couldn't accept that I wouldn't be helping to fuel the romance engine! :P

Cat, I was trying to find some songs that spanned the decades. I'm glad Dylan gave you some sweet tugs. :)

(And I know I want to hear about this party...)

Aniket, I'm finding it hard to keep up with everyone's blogs, too, in spite of my best intentions. But I'll have to drop by Lena's to check out that post! :)

And yes, I am very human. This week's been a great reminder of that. :P

the thing songs are shadows of...I like that. :) I also like its mirror--pushing mundane life to the heights spoken in the wishing language of melody.

Sarah, this is an enjoyable and welcome take on the romance of the day. The music is great. I love Ella (and Dylan, of course)! Great last line, too.

Jason, me too. And what you describe is probably the more familiar side of that duality. But here's to moments of breaking through! :) To being the envy of songs.

Karen, I'm glad you found something to enjoy here! This post was a nice, light respite for me, after the weightiness of my series. Sometimes we just need to let others speak for us, as we float away. :)

Sorry for this copy and paste...

Hi,

I wanted to ask you if you could take a moment and send me an email at my new email address:

chriseldin1@gmail.com

(You don’t have to write anything, I just want your email address for my new contact list, if that’s okay).
The hotmail server where I am has been locked up for over a week, and I can’t access my contact list. I’m sorry I’m posting this on your blog. And I’m also sorry this is a copy and paste letter. Will be back around….
Thanks!! And if you can’t, no worries!

Sarah, your choices are spectacular. What else can set the mood faster than music like this?? :)

I love thought that we can be the "thing songs are shadows of."

I often see songs as dramatizations of human dreams (or pain). (I guess Jason has already said this more eloquently... :P)

Anyway, Happy Valentine's Day to you, too!
:)

Thank you, everyone, for your comments!

Valentine's may be over, but the music plays on. :D
